This pretty little lady with the dashing yellow-green eyes and the Cindy Crawford mole is Katrina. Her owner is Kerrie of The Back Bay Framery. Katrina is 15 years old, and this is her official coming-out party. She is ready to be wooed by treats and under-the-chin scratches.
I know I shouldn’t be preferential towards any specific species, but I really do love photographing cats so. so. much. I can practically see all the little secrets they have stored away inside their furry heads.
Behind the Scenes
Katrina has her own little room to which she retreats, to sort of, you know, get away from it all. Curled on the arm of the sofa may be her way of sinking into a nice bubblebath with a glass of merlot. So though she said nothing, I could tell she wasn’t thrilled that I kept following her into this space, especially when she dashed in there a few times specifically to get away from me. Ha ha. But what a great room! A couch that matched the color of her eyes, and punched up by pink and magenta pillows. And the window treatments! I was obsessed with working the curtains into the shot, literally. Deliberately held the the gauzy white curtains in frame, shot after shot after shot, while Katrina looked at me like, What, what, what are you doing in my SPACE?!
Thanks Katrina for a lovely morning. Mwah!
Li! So pretty! What a funny little girl! I LOOOVE black & white cats. Love those cat room colors too. Awesome work. :)
I love the one of her licking her leg. It just looks so dainty.
Agreed I love the one of her licking her leg. For some reason it makes me think that she’s a ballerina doing barre work.
the shot of her w/her mouth open, i really want to snorgle her neck. so. qte. :)
What a beautiful feline!
Katrina is a lovely cat, an absolute beauty; these are fantastic photos.
She looks so soft… I just want to pet her!
such lovely, ethereal shots, Li. and what a pretty kitty!
….LOVE that 1st shot — the glare katrina is giving you is priceless….
Fantastic work, Li! Love this kitty and you amaze me with the shots you are able to make with such a shy creature.
My baby girl looks so beautiful!…she was exhausted after her shoot…curled up and slept all day! Needed her beauty rest.
I prefer cats too. We can be cat photographer buddies. ;) But hey, your studio is named Fat Orange CAT. :) So, it makes sense! I love these! The colors are all so awesome! Gorgeous light too.
Ha! Even before I got to the bottom “behind the scenes” that gauzy curtain one was my favourite of all the photos. I looooove seeing the behind the scenes and then the shot you got, thanks so much for including those. It’s interesting to us mere mortals who just like to photograph our furbabies, as to what you do to get the shot. Cats do have such great personalities to photograph don’t they. :-)
