It’s been all about weddings this summer, so it’s been a breath of fresh air to have been photographing a lot of animal friends this fall. Back to what made me start my business in the first place. Each year since 2009 I’ve been photographing fewer and fewer pets. It’s not a complaint…I wouldn’t say I’m thrilled about it either…it’s just where the business is now. Weddings first, pets second. Actually if I could close out the weddings season with a burst of pet shoots, like I have lately this fall, I’d say that would be a pretty perfect plan to go by.
Kipper (black) and Heidi got me out of my desk chair on a weekday. Thank goodness because it was a glorious, freshly minted autumn day that I would have just let pass me by otherwise. We hiked, chased after balls, posed among leaves and shrubs, crunched leaves with our paws, sticks with our teeth. I had forgotten how difficult photographing animals really is. (What do you mean they don’t speak English? Why am I so out of breath? I have no idea what I just shot.) Luckily, it was still as much fun as it’s always been.
